class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Farmers and farm laborers handling soil fumigant pesticides have new regulations this season and WorkSmart Clinic is ready to help farmers get prepared. Farmers use the soil fumigants as pesticides that are injected or incorporated into the soil, and then it forms a gas that permeates the soil and kills a wide array of soil-borne pests. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is requiring that handlers wear respirators when handling these chemicals. Applicators must also be evaluated and medically cleared to wear the respirator.<\/p><p>WorkSmart has trained personnel to help farmers and farm laborers who are applying these pesticides to get checked quickly and comply with the EPA and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) requirements. An OSHA respiratory questionnaire must be completed by the employee and maintained by the medical provider. \u00a0After a review of the questionnaire by a physician or physician&#8217;s assistant, the employee may be required to complete a respiratory physical exam.
